The Georgetown Center for Business and Public Policy is issuing a call for original research papers to be presented at a conference on "Wireless Technologies: Enabling Innovation and Economic Growth" at Georgetown University in Washington D.C. on April 17, 2009.

The conference is organized in cooperation with Information Economics and Policy (IEP). Papers accepted for the conference will be published, subject to an expedited review process, in a special issue of IEP, “Wireless Technologies: Enabling Innovation and Economic Growth,” during 2009. The Co-editors for the volume will be Professors John W. Mayo (Georgetown) and Glenn Woroch (Berkeley).

The goal of this Conference is to explore the economic consequences of wireless technologies for firms, consumers and society. The Conference is intended to host prominent scholars, businesspeople and policymakers to better understand the linkages between the introduction of wireless technologies and changes in the structure of economic activities. Additionally, the Conference seeks to explore potential policy implications of new wireless technologies for economic growth.

Authors should send an abstract or paper to The Georgetown Center at cbpp@msb.edu by October 1, 2008 to be considered for inclusion in the conference. Authors will be notified by November 1, 2008.

The Georgetown Center for Business and Public Policy was created in 2001 to encourage dialogue and to document and disseminate knowledge on a range of issues in the public interest. Our mission is to engage scholars, business people and policymakers in relevant inquiries and dialogue to impact key business, economic, and public policy issues confronting American and international businesses today. The McDonough School has an international focus, a rigorous academic environment, and a diverse student body that make the Georgetown experience unique. Within that framework, The Georgetown Center stands as a creative and intellectual marketplace for thoughtful exploration and careful testing of ideas on real world problems.
